Benefits

This section of the site has information about the major Government benefits programs and how they apply to people with disabilities. Information is available on Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security.

Medicaid

The Medicaid program was established to provide health care services for people with low incomes. As part of its evolution, having a disability is now one of the factors in determining eligibility for this program. We have several sub-categories under Medicaid.

  • EPSDT is the Medicaid program that provides Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment.

  • Medicaid Hearings describes how to argue with Medicaid if your eligibility or claim has been denied or your services have been stopped.

  • Medicaid Waivers provides information about several Medicaid programs for providing services in the community.

Medicare

The Medicare program was established to provide health care services for people of retirement age. There are now a number of disability related aspects to it.

Social Security

The Social Security program was established to provide an old age and survivors cash benefit. It has evolved over the years to have a number of disability related aspects.
